Updating platform

This post only serves to inform my readers that starting today, I am upgrading my CMS - a task that should have been done a long time ago.

Please accept and excuse inconveniences that this process may cause you. I plan to have it all sorted out during a couple of days, but knowing technology, things may take much longer.

:)

--> Update: The new platform is in place, now I will experiment with templates and usability... <--

My blog is not your PR-channel, duh!

A week or so ago, I was contacted by email by someone working at a company who had developed a game. The game where used as part of the promotion of a security event. They wanted me to put a link from my blog to the game in order to promote the event.

The request was polite, and I decided to take a look. I did try the game, but saw no immediate connection to my blog, and decided against promoting it. And I had the courtesy to inform the someone (above).

I promptly got an answer, with some explanations; and quite a few ways I could implement the game anyway. Now, I am a professional sales guy myself, so I do appreciate a certain level of persistence. And being in the polite mood, I told the someone I would spend a few days to reconsider, and that I just might change my initial point of view.

And I did reconsider.

I thought that ok, I could make a quick post on the game, even sharing with you all how I did not have the patience (or skills???) to complete the game myself.

Unfortunately for you and the game developer, this individual (Jenny is her name), did not have the patience to wait. Or perhaps she thought I would not reconsider.

I do not not know, nor do I care.

So what did she do to piss me off like this? Instead of waiting, and accepting my supreme control of my blog, she decided to post a link in a comment. To me, that is SPAM!

And her actions pisses me off enough to do the following:

1. remove the comment/spam - done!

2. send an email to her explaining the fault - done!

3. write and post this post - done!

Yes, I admit, I most likely overreacted. Yes, it did help. I might have achieved the same calmness by walking around the block a couple of times, but then you would never know, would you?

And yes, I do have a very narrow definition of spam - unsolicited mail/comments. And I am the supreme decision maker when it comes to what I find unsolicited.

So you are selling something, and want me to cover it? Leave it to me to decide whether or not it will show up on my blog, duh!

Weekend sentiment

My dear reader,

this post is only here to thank you!

During the time I have blogged, my audience has grown steadily in numbers and in geography. What started out as a project for fun, has evolved into one of my true joys and priorities. And the reason for that joy is you, my dear reader!

And not only are you reading my ramblings, you participate, you comment and you send me mails! We may not always agree, and I am not right all the time. But you keep hanging in there, and by doing so, you feed my joy.

I also enjoy the number of bloggers who link to me. I even appear on blog-rolls of bloggers I highly respect and enjoy. I cannot tell how much that means to me. (I probably should link to you all, but out of fear of not having found all links, I choose not too).

I truly enjoy my blogging, and knowing someone else is too, that is a great driver for me! So keep it coming - please let me know how you feel! Please let me know if there are stuff you'd like me to cover. And please keep sharing your toughts!

So, my dear reader, this post is entirely dedicate to you! I wish you a lovely weekend!

Getting back up!

At last - almost two weeks after the initial attack - my body is recovering. I am now back in fit shape, and attacking my back-log on the blog.

In the backlog is the next security profile Dr. Anton Chuvakin - the Security Warrior. He is one of my absolute favorite bloggers of security, and I am proud to present his profile next week!

I have also had a dialog with a security manufacturer, and I will present a CEO-profile in a weeks time. Perhaps that is the start of a new type of profiles on my blog.

While I have rested and fighting the virus, I have picked up on a number of stories going on the past two weeks. I will try to cover a few of them too - so watch out for my comments on the new Mohammed drawings, privacy and exploiting young people.

No guarantees that it all ends up here shortly - my backlog is not only on the blog!

Thank you all for your kind comments and sharing up mails. Also, thank you my regulars for hanging in there with me! I love the blog, and obviously some of you enjoy it too!

I wish you a lovely weekend!

Taking a hit

I am taking a viral or bacterial hit on my body currently.

I'll be back - hopefully within a couple of days!

Regards from the plains of fever!

Hot chocolate, anyone?

--> Off-topic post warning <--

Hot chocolate - the way I'd love it nowThis summer has been wet. Pouring rain almost every day. I was hoping August would be better in terms of sunshine and less rain. I am still hoping, and it seems I better wait another 10 months for summer.

I am very busy with business development these days, focusing on compliance, corporate governance and information security in Northern Europe. It is a thrill - but I must admit - right now, I'd rather crawl in the sofa, with a good Wiliam Gibson or Neil Postman novel.

The soft voice of Kathie Melua and Shakira from the speakers.

Add to that a nice, big cup of homemade, hot chocolate. Made from dark chocolate bars, with fat milk and whipped cream on top.

A touch of chocolate powder on top for the color.

And Voila!

That is what I'd rather do today! Please tell me about your day and summer! Bring on a little sunshine!

Activities

It may not look like it, but I am having a high level of activities going on currently. I just came back from a training in Germany, and now I am in a week-long workshop. Thus, there is not a lot of time to update the blog.  I apologize to my readers, and will get back to it shortly!

Offline a few days

I am off to Germany for giving a training. I will be back monday.

I wish you all a happy weekend!
