Securitynewsportal, anyone?

Submitted by Kai on Wed, 2007-09-26 23:07.

I am in need of your help now. Recently, I have got referring hits on Feedburner and Google Analytics from a couple of websites: www.securitynewsportal.com and www.snnx.com.

It seems like they are republishing my RSS-stream. Which is all fine. I just get curious as to who they are. Thus, I have tried to visit their websites a couple of times, and all I get is a HTTP403 error (forbidden).

My question to you is simply - can you tell me what these sites are? Who are running them? Why do they not serve the info to the public?

I may be paranoid - but I cannot help wondering if this is some kind of a fraud or harvesting system?

If you know anything about these services, please share with me! Use the comments below, or contact me using the contact page!

Your input is highly appreciated! Thanks!

You are so right

as always! Cheers :)

Re:

Well probably they are polling your RSS and storing them database - might be creating search index - don't worry, blog is reflection of one's intellect - someone will be getting benefit :) Cheers!

Great to know

Marcin, thank you!

I only got worried since each time I checked their URLs, I got the 403. Guess there is something wrong on their technology - a job for some of the technical readers, perhaps?

SNPX and Security News

SNPX and Security News Portal are both the same site. Odd I can't reach the site anymore and get a 403 error as well.

The two sites are similar to www.securls.com (a GNUCITIZEN project). They aggregate feeds, content, advisories, etc from many security-related websites. (mine included)

I am not worried about them. They don't publish entire posts and they link back to you, unlike some sites.
