Phishers expands their business

Somehow website owners believe that phishing is only targeting banks. Here is some news for you - when security tightens in one area, attachers are quick to find other sites and technologies to exploit.

In March, a phishing attack targeted MySpace. It was clever, and used CSS to harvest user names and passwords from MySpace accounts. According to Google Security Blog, 95% of all new phishing traffic went to MySpace.

As social networks and Web2.0 expands, it becomes more important than ever to teach our users how to detect fraud. But that alone is not enough. It is due time to fix the infrastructure and technology. The technology we use today was never designed to be secure. It was made for easy communication. Which means it is way open for exploits.

We do need a redesigned Internet technology. Until then, there is a huge potential for phishers and attackers to exploit people who do not realize the threats.
